Description: 1920's -1930's Mother Of Pearl Opera Glasses, Rare, Verdi Paris, M.O. Nobbe & Co., Galveston, Texas Verdi Paris is listed on the one eye piece and was crafted for M.O. Nobbe Jewelers. On the other eye piece it has M.O. Nobbe & Co., Galveston Texas. Silver in color, which is rarer. Most items listed on ebay and elsewhere are of a brass color.Size is approximately 2 1/2" tall by 3 7/8" wide (at the opening of the large lenses, side to side), 8 1/2" with arm extended The arm is missing a small amount of Mother of Pearl on the lowest handle. Otherwise these opera glasses are in beautiful condition for it's age.There is no box.Morris O. Nobbe was the President of the the oldest Jewelry store in Texas, before purchasing it in 1905. Selling for friends of mine who are downsizing their familys estate. These opera glasses belonged to her father's family who lived in Galveston Texas and most probably attended the Galveston Opera House which opened in 1894 and is still in existence today.With their exquisite design and historical significance, these glasses are sure to impress any collector.
