African Beaded Tribal Necklace, Antique Venetian Trade Bead, Green Krobo, Wood

Description: This is a beautiful handmade African tribal necklace by Glade Creek Art. It features an antique Venetian focal trade bead. This beautiful bead was probably made mid century or earlier in Italy. These beads are highly collectible. They were traded like currency until mid century (1950.). They were traded all along the trade route to Africa. In Africa, they were highly prized. Beads in Africa are handed down in families. They also represent a families wealth to this day. On special occasions tribal peoples will wear all their beads. I'm not sure how they are able to wear so many at one time as they are quite heavy. The green Krobo beads from Ghana are clear glass. These beads are made from recyling glass. The wood beads are African. They are called Wenge, pronounced " when- gay." I put a clear gloss on them to make them more durable. The necklace is designed with a lobster closure made of heave- duty stainless steel. The reason i always use stainless is that it will never tarnish, and they are almost indestructible. There are other small parts at the closure that are stainless steel, too. This piece is 19 inches in length. The necklace has a bohemian and ethnic theme and is perfect for special occasions such as graduation, Christmas, anniversary, birthday, and Valentine's Day.
