Description: This is for a Rare old Drinking Vessel / TumblerBiconical Form with the base rim being finished by folding it over. Color is somewhat of an Amber but can appear a very Light olive green in different light sources.Measures: 4-3/4" tall by 3-1/2" top rim. (12 cm tall) This came from a very high end collection of rare antique stemware that took the collector decades to acquire at high end auction houses.I first assumed it was Venetian, but during extensive research I found one other example identical to this vessel. Exact same dimensions, color, etc. It was sold at an auction house is Paris, France. The auction was conducted on October 12th of 2020. The auction is found on google, it was an auction full of 16th & 17th century stemware and other vessels from the collection of Mrs. Barbara Wirth. The collection had 1 just like this, and they catalogued it as "17th century, from Catalonia Spain" and it was estimated at a value of 1800 to 2000 euros in October of 2020. Which is about 2000 in us dollars at the moment. Also Dorflinger Glass co in the USA made a "reproduction venteian line" in the early 1900's. The reproduction line was supposed to look like the 16th century venetian glass. They made a similar shape tumbler line in Purple, Blue & Yellow Amber. This color on my tumbler here does not quite match the appearance of the more yellow looking amber glass Dorflinger used and I think the foot is made taller than Dorflinger's. I can't totally rule out Dorflinger making this tumbler as part of that line, but it does not quite match the pieces I see in the Dorflinger book "America's finest...." and the Dorflinger ACGA catalog section of that Line that shows all 3 colors in all of the tableware. Perhaps this tumbler here is what they were copying? However you can see similar other examples of conical shaped stems in this color & style (with folded foot like this) in Museums such as Corning & the Met. and other places around the world. You will need to decide the origin and era. Early Venetian or from 17th c Spain, or a dorflinger venetian piece to be sure. There are a couple tiny size indents in the top rim that feel smooth enough to just be flaws the way it was made. No one will ever notice them but I am going to take a few close ups and point at them with stickers in the last pictures for you to view and decide. Bottom rim looks good. see all the pics. Its a fantastic antique glass example..................................................... *No Returns/Refunds Policy*...Please Note that we do not accept returns or refunds.
