Description: This is a vintage divided back postcard, postally used and postmarked 1914 from Altoona, Pennsylvania. Postcard features a view of the Blair County Home in Altoona. Also called the Blair County Almshouse, and was constructed in the 1850s to house poor, orphans and mentally ill residences. The buildings pictured were built in the 1890s and expanded in 1900s as focus shifted to the mentally ill. This facility closed in the 1960s and the site transitioned to a Veterans Home. Please note damage along edges and corners. See pics for details of condition. Postcard may have normal wear associated with old postcards such as creases, stains and bent corners. See pics for details and conditions. Reasonable offers will be considered.
