Description: Custom Skinner Knife Natural Micarta Handle High Carbon Steel Blade By Ray Richards USA . The knife is hand crafted custom. Made in Vernal Utah. This blade was forged from a John Deere industrial lawn mower blade. John Deere mower blades are made of abrasion-resistant, high-carbon, nickel-alloy steel. This steel (commonly used for automotive leaf springs) has the hardness to be extremely resistant to wear and breakage. I have a friend that runs a company that used these machines. He gave the the blades. Forged into this knife. The blade is 1/8" wide with a 3" blade. The handle is 4" . Fixed blade. Brass 3/16" pins in the handle. Comes with handcrafted leather sheath. The sheath is also made by the maker of this knife. Hand double stitched Sheath. The sheath is treated with an oil and beeswax mix and then baked. This allows the beeswax to absorb into the leather making it water resistant. Made in the USA, by Ray Richards. The maker is local here in Northern Utah. I have known him for years. I have been happy with his product. I have them for sale in my brick and mortar stores and on line. He started making knives about 3 years ago.He has been apprenticing under Bill Lewis another knife maker in our area. Bill is a gunsmith and knife maker. He is almost 80 so he is now teaching Ray how to make knives. Bill apprenticed under Roy Genge, and Roy apprentice under Bob Loveless. So you will see the loveless design on many of the knives.
