Mother was taking me downtown in Detroit to Hudson's Dept. Store to pick out my very own "Christmas Doll". The 12th. Floor at J.L. Hudson Co. was all decorated with Toys for Christmas; it was a Fairyland! It was 1945 and I was 10 yrs. old. I chose this Effanbee Doll which I named Scarlet (probably because of the Movie "Gone with the Wind). She is a composition Anne Shirley, 17" tall with a wig of human hair and original gold sandals. Her clothes are not original, but they are vintage doll clothes (panties, slip and dress). Her skin is flawless with no cracks or marks. She is Marked: Effanbee under her wig at base of skull and on her back (see scan). She does, however, have "fogged" eyes and is missing an index finger. She is quite lovely and well taken care of for her age (see scan) as she was well loved and played with often. The elastic bands which connect the joints (arms, legs, neck) are not as tight as when they were new; consequently, there is some loose flexibility there. Buyer Pays 18.50 S&H.
