Description: Up for sale is a large antique lithograph Plate of a view of one profile of the canal of the Nicaragua Route in Lake Nicaragua l - Plate #49, Profile #2. Panoramic view of the canal from Conchuda to Lake Nicaragua. It measures approximately 145 x 11. It is blank on the back. The Plate comes from The Report of the Isthmian Canal Commission, 1899-1901. This report was commissioned to develop the best route and plan for the construction of the Panama Canal. The Plate is a rare example of the publication of this work. The report was published by the Government Printing Office circa 1903. Overall the Plate is in good condition. Some light browning around the edges. Several creases down the middle where it was originally folded when bound. There is one fairly large and delicate tear that is still held together on the far left side, but it does not obviously affect the print. There are also some other tears at various creases across the lithograph on top and bottom. Toward the middle, there are three small holes ripped in the top of the paper, but these do not affect the print. One point down the middle where it has been reattached, as it is two separate pieces. A few small dark specks at various places. Will look very nice framed. Note also that while I have included a picture of the List of Plates from the original book it is not included in the sale as it is a reference piece to determine authenticity for several other plates. I would be happy to include a copy if requested. Please see my store for other great items. Inventory E-10
