Description: NEVER SMOKED Here is your chance to own a peice of American history. This Very rare Virgin Collectible NOS unique vintage antique and collectible Made in USA Pipe. This is a Dr. Grabow CDL - Cool, Dry, Light - briar-and-metal apple pipe made by the Sparta, N.C., pipe makers around 1974.It is from a design bought by a Sparta Pipes executive that sat on his desk until another Sparta executive decided to make it and market it in the mid-1970s. Only a few hundred of these were made and test marketed in several U.S. cities. They never went into full production.This is a rare find for those who like to smoke system - metal and briar - pipes. It accepts the standard Dr. Grabow filter and can be smoked with or without the filter.There is a small vent hole in the back of the bowl that allows the smoker to control the flow of air into the tobacco chamber further regulating how warm or cool the pipe smokes. This Pipe was acquired at an estate sale of a wealthy Tobacconist collector. Natural aging is present with unique patinas, a truly fine specimen and survivor and work of art and a peice of art. Please see the pictures. This is an amazing gift to you or your favorite smoker. Never used or smoked part of an amazing and extensive collection. This pipe has not been buffed or polished since I acquired it, it is in its original found state. There are handling nicks and scratches present due to its age.
