Description: I have LOTS of trade beads on ebay, and lots more are waiting to be listed. I always combine postage. If you buy more than one lot of beads, I will automatically refund you any postage due. Up for sale here is a recently restrung necklace/trade bead strand with a silver clasp. It is just over a metre long in total! It had to be restrung because its original string had broken and fallen apart. As a consequence the beads have also had a light clean. This is strung with antique beads made in Europe for the North American and Canadian trapper/trade markets. They were prized by indigenous peoples for their sky blue shades, and there are very bright translucent examples, almost kingfisher blue. Along with pony/padre trade beads there are tiny opaque turquoise glass ponies, blue striped onion skins and four lost wax cast metal beads which are very bright and possibly gold plated. Lovely, satin matte finish that comes with age and much handling, they have great patina which I have tried to show in the photos. It is to be appreciated in circulated beads of their age. The pony beads in particular are associated with the Hudson Bay trading post and there is much information about their fascinating history on the internet.
