This is a seal from a kiln associated with the Kutani production area. It also includes the name of the maker, Watano. Kaga was the name of an area with independent status during the Edo period. Its status designated that the area had more independence than a standard province. The seal using the characters for "Kaga Kuni" was mainly used during the later part of the Edo period up to the Meiji period around the end of the 19th century.
