Vintage EXCELLENT Stetson 1950-1951 Beaver Twenty Brown Sz 7-1/8+++ To 7-1/4

Description: Excellent New with minor defects, 1950s lightly used Stetson Beaver Twenty 20, size 7-1/8+++ to 7-1/4 (it’s a fraction under a perfect 7-1/4 by approximately 1/16 of an inch, see last picture), read below. So back then there was NO size Standardization. It is perfectly shaped! It’s a real looker! Dad and grandson needed to do very little work on this one, just a bit of cleaning and minor steaming to get the shape back to the original style. You can see in the first few pictures that this Beaver Twenty is easily “Hand-Bashed”! That fedora shape we did in 2-3 seconds! It just so very soft and thick that it’s easily “Hand-Bashed”! Currently it is shaped as a Center Dent but if you wanted a shape steamed into the hat before we ship you MUST write to us!We just can’t say how great the BEAVER Twenty is! If there was just some way to reach into the pictures and touch it you’d understand! While steaming this to do the touch up on shaping, the bit of steam makes this feel like melted butter, it just that soft!As you can see the leather sweatband is still in new condition, there is no wear to the top edge (hat reed) and the sewn joint is perfect! Currently this measures to a 7-1/8+++ at 22-1/2++ inches, actually a fraction larger but it hard to measure those fractional difference with the tools dad has. That’s just a fraction under a perfect 7-1/4. Since the leather sweatband is still in such great condition it could easily be stretched to a perfect size 7-1/4 with a $15 Amazon hat stretcher would work fine. All of dad’s hat stretchers are currently all in use, since this is just a fraction off, he said the new owner can easily stretch this by either wearing it or stretch it much faster by buying one of those $15 Amazon hat stretchers. We suggest those because a few of dad’s hat buyers have gotten excellent results with them but any decent hat stretcher will do.A perfect 7-1/8 is 22-3/8 inches and a perfect 7-1/4 is 22-3/4 inches. This is a fraction under a perfect 7-1/4.If you wear a 7-1/8 dad still has an old stock of what many hat owners used to use to reduce the hat size. A thick felt strips that lie under the leather sweatband. If you need the felts strips please write before we ship! There are a couple other hats that dad is offering these strips to so please write before assuming they are still here. Anyway these can be purchased at any fabric store. We DO NOT LIKE the foam hat reducers! It’s a personal choice but they just don’t work as well as felt strips or even leather strips simply placed under the leather sweatband!You can see that this is a very early 1950s (1950-1951) Stetson because there is that very thin plastic overlay on the liner and the liner design and color. This is a Chocoalate Brown color and the picture of the whole underside is the best representation of the color. This is what Stetson would call a Chocolate Brown. Not sure why we can’t get the color to always come out consistently? Anybody out there has any suggestions?This was cleaned and shaped by my grandson and dad! This looks great with a perfect dip in the front.NOTE: that Stetson oval box is an optional purchase with this fedora and is NOT included in this sale. One of dad’s hat collector buyers want to buy it but nothing has been concluded yet! This Stetson hat box (this is NOT the lightweight cardboard from the 1950s but a heavy thicker material) is actually from the very late 1930s to 1940s and has that thin tissue paper hat shaped hat cover. The box itself is still in very good solid condition with minor paper wear (see end pictures) and 1 rivet on the leather strap on one side (the other rivet is holding the leather strap on the box though) and it does have its original hat holding insert set. Just what you’d expect from a nearly 100 years old hat box. That cellophane type tissue paper very delicate but still intact. It can tear though anytime it’s over-handled. Dad is asking $94.00 plus shipping so if you think you’d like it you will need to write to dad and negotiate it’s sale?This Beaver Twenty is extremely soft and pliable and can easily steamed into any shape or style you desire. If you have a preference, like an Open Crown or Fedora you may write to us and dad will be happy to steam shape it for you.After looking again at and knowing how easily shaped this is we hand bashed an Open Road style shaping into the hat and that actually looked outstanding too! That shape we do suggest steaming into shape though. That has finer defined lines to its shape.Just a OUTSTANDING classic fedora.NOTE: this was just edited to now include an option for a coat trolley string. A Brown one will look perfect with this fedora! This is NOT sewn onto the hat but could be by any decent tailor or the end can be trimmed off and used just as an adornment. It’s pretty easily done.Dad has a few different color newer 1960s Coat Trolley strings that are listed here on eBay. They make great additions to any hat for that extra bit of styling. This measures to a 7-1/8+++ at 22-1/2+ inches. You can see the picture with the hat sizer towards the end in the picture gallery. We know there was no hat sizing standardization until 1970 with the Tilley hat sizing chart, still in use today. This could easily be stretched to a perfect 7-1/4 with a $14 Amazon hat stretcher, it just takes time and patience.
