HERE WE HAVE: A vintage Weems & Plath handheld bearing compass! There's a battery compartment (fits 2 C batteries) in the handle, I'm assuming this unit is supposed to light up, but I couldn't get it to. Not sure if it needs a new bulb or what.Comes with a wooden, dovetailed storage box that I think might be original? CONDITION: Being sold as is, for parts or restoration. The compass tries to work, and it gets close to pointing the right direction, but doesn't quite get it right. It has large air bubbles in it, so it may work better when filled? Or it may need other adjustments to work properly. The put a new bulb and batteries in, but I couldn't get the flashlight to work. Batteries are not included but the bulb is. Piece has scuffs and scratches scattered throughout. The box has a replacement bottom. Box has scuffs, scratches, splits, and general wear from age and use. Not sure if the inside of the box is complete. Will come as shown, so please see photos. MEASUREMENTS: Piece is about 10 1/2" tall and 3 7/8" in diameter at the widest points. SHIPPING: Calculated.
